It wasn't bad, but there were clear signs that the show was starting to go downhill. You could see flanderization setting in with several characters, especially Eddy and Ed. Eddy became a completely unlikable, mean-spirited jerk in season 5, while Ed turned into an obnoxious and destructive prima donna who was constantly screaming or crying or

While Eddy pushes people away emotionally and Ed is very rough and boyish with his hugs, Edd is daintier and heartfelt. In the long run, it doesn’t really add up if you see the way Jimmy acts and the way all the girls act. They’re gruffer than Double D is sometimes.
